Global

third of the world's population is infected with TB but does
not have the disease. According to WHO estimate in 1995 there were about 3
million deaths attributable to tuberculosis.
Most
of these cases (95%) and TB related deaths (98%) were in the developing
countries.
There
are about 15 - 20 million infectious (sputum positive) cases of
TB in the world.
